Maya Krishna Rao’s Ravanama places Ravana at its centre. Ravana who is invincible, Ravana who is besotted with Sita, Ravana who is the not aware of the consequences of his actions.  In some stories Sita is Ravana’s daughter who is sent away because she will bring about his death, in others she is the daughter of the earth. Rao questions this story of longing and “memorylessness” of man/father for his lover/daughter.
