M V Bhaskar will exhibit his extensive work on the Ramayana panels of Tamil Nadu along with a Kalamkari artist from Andhra Pradesh, followed by a performance with seven leather puppeteers.

Join us for a performance with leather puppeteers from Andhra Pradesh as they unravel the mysteries of the Ramayana.

M.V. Bhaskar, most recently an IFA grantee for pursuing alternative forms of reconstruction and restoration of the Ramayana mural paintings on the ceiling of the VenugoplaParthasarathy temple at Chengam, Tamil Nadu, (www.chengammurals.org) began his involvement with mural paintings in 2003 as part of a project to document and archive the mural paintings of Tamil Nadu. Since then Bhaskar has been continuously working with this subject in the many roles that the subject and his own experience and skills permit – as a writer, illustrator, archivist, film maker, and inevitably, a researcher.

Venue: Kala Chhaya Campus, Opp Vikhe Patil School, Near the passport Office, Off S B Road, Pune.

Time: 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Date: 16 March, 2013

This performance is free and open to everyone.
